A list of terms

Here is a list of unnecessary terms:


  • meme

    - a situation, phrase, or phenomenon that people like to imitate (e.g. a cat that said 'I can haz cheezburger?' that has been repeated in different forms)
  • copypasta

    - a phrase or a piece of dialogue that has been repeated for humourous effect
  • parody

    - something modelled after another's work either because one like's another's work or to make fun of another's work. A parody must give credit to the original author, or it will be considered a 'knock-off' (a wrongly-made imitation), by paying the author expensive amounts of money
  • Doom Paul

    - pictures having the American politician Ron Paul (or another character) warning about ruin, with ruin already being present in the background
  • Navy Seal Copypasta

    - a long statement made by a fictional American soldier filled with boasts, impossible achievements, and death threats.
  • Trollpasta

    - 'copypasta' that is intended to make fun of unnecessary copypastas
  • What People Think I Do

    - a series of six or nine images involving what others think someone is doing, what the same someone thinks he or she is doing, and what he or she is actually doing
  • Latvian Jokes

    - jokes set in a fictional, harsher version of Latvia (an Eastern European country)
  • BGM

    - background music, music that is used for a proper surrounding
  • otaku

    - a person who has an interest in Japanese comics (manga) and cartoons (anime)
  • Tolkiendil

    - a person with a serious interest in the works of the British author J. R. R. Tolkien (especially 'Lord of the Rings'), or who enjoys studying them. The name is from 'Tolkien' and the Quenya (fictional language) suffix 'dil', which means 'servant' or 'friend'. The proper term is 'Tolkienite'
  • weeaboo

    - a person who is dangerously obsessed with manga and anime (fun fact: 'wi' is nowadays considered foreign in modern Japanese)
  • feminism

    - the belief that women and girls are never to be abused, but to be allowed to have the same rights and work the same jobs as men, and to be more independent. Nowadays, in the West it is unfortunately used by some activists to force people to make things less offensive to women and minorities, to others' expense.
  • sociology

    - the study of human group behaviour
  • Steam

    - not a water gas, but a video-game website
  • Jersey Shore

    - a television show involving several people wasting their time in a summer home, fighting and drinking alcohol. It is notorious for depicting Italians and New Jersey in a negative light
  • cliche

    - a concept that is used too much
  • Deviantart

    - (DA) a website for art
  • TF2

    - 'Team Fortress 2', a multiplayer shooting game that has shooting, mercenaries, and hats
  • K-Zones

    - a brand of Australian children's magazines
  • Cwcki

    - ('kwick-kee') a website that describes the antics of a certain American, filled with so much childish behaviour
  • Everybody do the flop

    - a weird dance involving dropping over to the floor
  • YTP

    - 'Youtube Poop', a Youtube video that is a humourously surreal edit of a video
  • G-mod

    - 'Garry's Mod', a change to the video-game 'Half-Life 2', where players create and play around with environments, characters, and props, and make videos and screenshots of their adventures

  • FB

    - 'Facebook', a website for posting and speaking to others
  • Dr. Who

    - a science fiction show about an alien who travels through time
  • conservative

    - a person who protects and practices traditional values and national culture
  • MRA

    - 'men's rights' activists', people who want better treatment for males
  • phrasebook

    - a book having phrases in another language
  • blogging

    - recording information in a website, known as a 'blog'
  • Wattpad

    - a website for posting stories
  • Vivian James

    - a fictional character that represents the GamerGate movement, a video-game movement that seeks fairer reports for video-games
  • field trip

    - a trip or tour for a school's students
  • Tsarist

    - relating to, or supporting, the Russian tsar (emperor)
  • expansion

    - a download that adds or changes things in a video-game
  • D-Mag

    - an Australian children's magazine
  • Reddit

    - a discussion website
  • Allegro con brio

    - music to be played quickly and with liveliness
  • Rondo

    - music with one central theme played several times, alternative between different themes between each time
  • Allegro

    - music to be played fast
  • 4chan

    - a website notorious for its gruesome and disgusting content

    - following the most basic features of a belief, often to a very strong extent

    - Major League Gaming, an American video-game championship where teams and players battle each other on multiplayer servers

  • Double Tenth Day

    - a celebration in Taiwan remembering the Wuchang Uprising in modern Wuhan, where revolutionaries began the downfall of the archaic Qing Dynasty
